BREAKING: Riverside/Norco Brush Fire; Home Destroyed

The News Wire is monitoring an 250-acre brush fire reported just after 12 p.m. in Riverside's La Sierra neighborhood in the area of Peacock Lane and Claycroft Lane.

The fire has moved west into the city of Norco pushed by gusty winds.

An unknown number of homes are being evacuated. Evacuated residents are being directed to Ingalls Park in Norco.

UPDATE 2:58 p.m.: The flank of this fire is being fought at the edge of the Hidden Valley Golf Course.

Large animals may be taken to, 43945 Golden Hills Drive in Aguanga, east of Temecula. Telephone ahead at (951) 767-9331.

It is unclear how many homes are threaten.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: Fire officials say this fire is now 80-percent contain.

UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: The Riverside Press-Enterprise is reporting one home has burnt in Norco as an result of this fire.

UPDATE 3:01 p.m.: There are conflicting reports whether any homes were damaged and/or destroyed.

The Hidden Valley Golf Course has also been closed as an result of this fire.

Riverside City Fire Department reports their fire sources are "maxed out." Riverside Division Chief John Martinez told the Press-Enterprise, "We cant put any more resources on this. We will have to go mutual aid."

Temecula Fire

The News Wire is also monitoring another fire south of this fire burning in Temecula near Winchester Road and Jefferson Avenue.

Cal-Fire is reporting at least five-acres have burnt, no structures are threaten and Jefferson Avenue is closed between Sanborn Avenue and Winchester Road due to heavy smoke.
