San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is set to announce Friday his intentions of running for lieutenant governor, according to many sources close to the mayor.
Mr. Newsom has reportedly contacted several officials around San Francisco and Sacramento, along with campaign donors, and potential donors alike, to inform them of his intention to run.
When asked by reporters Thursday concerning his intentions to run for office Mr. Newsom responded saying, "You'll just have to wait until tomorrow."
Records show on Wednesday Newsom paid the $2,600 fee to the San Francisco County elections department to file the proper papers to run for lieutenant governor.
As you may recall last year Mr. Newsom was considered to be the democratic front running for governor, however in October the mayor stepped down from the race citing "personal reasons."
